My B&S in on a 12 ft jon boat. I towed someone about 200 yards the other day. They had a 17ft center console. It ran fine. I took the boat home and left it. It rained for a few days pretty hard. I went out today to start it before taking it out fishing. It would not start. I played with the choke and throttle, still no start. I got fresh gas, still nothing but it would sputter. I removed the bowl and gas was in it. Removed the spark plug and it looked fine. Eventually it started and I let it run for about 10 minutes. While it was running, it ran rough. I shut it off and it started again. I shut it off once again and then it wouldn't start. It would sputter like it wanted to start, it even back fired a few times. I took the carb off and sprayed carb cleaner inside and around the float and pins. I put everything back on and it still dont start, just sputters. Any ideas? It's a 2003 aa0101000101. Another thing is I noticed my choke lever that connects to the cable is broken, I'll have to order a new one. Thanks

Ok, I just disconnected the rev limiter and it started right up, I've read earlier posts where some people say a power head is only 150. I see the limiter is $75. I've been looking for a power head but can't find one.

What if I didn't use the limiter? as long as i'm in water, would that be a problem?

welcome aboard.

are you referring to the governor on the motor? you need to keep that connected.

also, most likely you have dirt in the carb. clean the carb.

Yeah, thanks. it's funny, I was doing more research and saw that the rev limiter would cut the engine if the prop had issues. There was nothing wrong with the prop. but i spun it and then tried to start it. It worked. I took it out fishing and it was fine. Thanks
