Was something solid sucked into the impeller to cause a jam?<br /><br />At any rate, I have been working on small engines for 30 years and have never seen one break the crank. Even when run without oil, it's usually the connecting rod that breaks.<br /><br />My guess is that motor had a defect in the crank. The cranks are not drop forged or hardened. They are soft enough that I have easily cut them short with a hacksaw and drilled/tapped threads in the end of the crank.<br /><br />You should have no problems with the new motor.<br /><br />Mark.
