Alright fellas, I recently purchased the little 5HP camo Briggs and Stratton air-cooled outboard. I like it so far but here's my problem: I'm going to be using this little outboard to deer hunt with, taking it down the little slews and bayous, which means I'm probably going to beat the heck out of this aluminum prop that the outboard came with. Do you guys know where I can find a steel prop for this engine, or perhaps what steel props from other outboards might fit this engine?
I haven't really looked around much, but i figured this would be a great place to start. I'm sure some of yall can give me some good advice.

I've also heard that Mercury may have helped design the lower unit for this engine. Is this true, and should I look at the props for the small Mercury four-strokes?

I think I would stick with aluminum,it is less likely to transmit damage to the gearcase. If your going to not be planing;raise the transom to a point that the motor is in the water just enough to push the boat to 5 or 6 mph.Get yourself a couple of B&S spare props. Wouldn't hurt to see if any brand prop will work.My guess is there are none.Of course no need to worry about pumping water prop only needs to be in the water enough to push the boat about 5 or 6 mph.Going much faster the boat will start to squat making it more likely to bottom.
You could do a combination of raising the motor and then tilting it on some sort of support.Unfortunately the more you tilt the less control.

I know nothing about small horsepower props, but I do have one of these B and S PsOS . . . Sorry, I like it for what it is, a lawn mower with a prop on it. Anyway . . . the middle piece in the hub assembly is rubber and replaceable, but anything would have to be that design if you were to use a non-B and S prop.

Yea I'm starting to realize I might not find a steel prop of this size. I may take your advice steelespike and just buy a few replacement aluminum props.
