Hello,

Tried to post this once, but I don't think it worked. Sorry if you already have seen it.

Have a '94 Johnson 88hp. Compression check when winterized last fall showed around 130 on all 4 cylinders, also checked spark on all 4 cylinders in fall and it was good. Had tune-up - 4 new plugs, new water pump, new fuel filter, one month ago.

Put it in water first time this past week, and after 30 minutes, had a brief and sudden drop in RPM. Started pretty well, idles great. But going along at about half to 3/4 throttle, it dropped power. Didn't stall, but seemed like it was going to. Seemd like it ran out of gas for a second. I checked primer bulb, and it seemed soft, but that could just be me hoping it wasn't something more serious.

As soon as I backed off the throttle or gave it more throttle, it picked right up. Did it twice, first, like I said, after 30 minutes, then again another 10-15 minutes later. Tell-tale peeing fine all day long.

Is this a fuel issue? Spark issue?

My biggest worry - can I keep running it until I figure out if it is fuel or spark, or will I harm the engine?

I'm hoping it's just a little water that built up in fuel over the winter.

Any thoughts? Any recommended fuel additives?

Thanks!
