Hi All - The boat (22' heavy glass hard top) was set up with a vortec block and non vortec heads and intake when I got it. Found out it had a cracked block and no compression in a few and little in a couple more. So, for the cost I was better off getting a re-manned long block and it's running really good.

Question: The fuel supply was set up with an electric pump, so I tapped and plugged the mechanical pump holes on the new block. Having some issues with fuel delivery to my 4S kicker....it's flooding, because of the way the delivery is set up:

main tank>electric fuel pump>fuel water separator>kicker and 4bb Holley carb....the kicker floods when pump/key is on. It sucks the bulb flat and I suspect it robs everything N of the fuel pump when the key/pump is off but doesn't flood.

My solution:
tank>fuel water separator>fuel pump>holley
tank>fuel water separator>shut off>kicker

I'm not sure the size regarding psi the existing fuel pump is, What should the new 5.7 holley 4bbl have in terms of size for the electric pump. I want to stay electric...recommendations for type?? sierra/walbro...etc...?? Please let me know if my solution is good. I don't want to cause a lean condition in my new motor. Thanks!!

main tank>electric fuel pump>fuel water separator>kicker and 4bb Holley carb....

Wrong setup and VERY dangerous.

Here is how it should be.
Tank>fuel water separator>electric fuel pump(marine rated pump only and wired to an oil pressure switch)>fuel selector valve>then the carb.

OK, that's what I suspected after researching. So per yours, the kicker would be after the pump and per the selector switch? Would an on demand pump still flood the kicker or no? Also if the pump is off per the starter switch, would the pump not allow fuel to the kicker?

What size pump regarding psi (7max)?? or more??

Got it on the oil pressure switch, It is wired that way now.

No, I did it wrong too, all the filters and valves go before the fuel pump. Only the carb is after the pump.

Fuel pump not to exceed what was required for the mechanical pump.

As always, Thanks! Parts on the way to make it compliant.
