Bravo Shift cable adjustment question

I went to the "Boatnut" place (Olympic Boat Center Fife, WA)

I asked them to sell me a MERC 91-12427 Bravo shift cable adjustment tool to use as instructed in service manual 11

I got the "Deer in the headlights look" They said they've never heard of it.

Now I confess, I did not talk to the service dept people on this (but the parts guys didn't seem to talk to them either) Is there another way to adjust a Bravo shift cable?

I just want to follow the Mercruiser service manual! I guess I'll have to buy that adjustment tool from someone on the internet like Mercstuff if I can't get the local boys to sell it to me!

Thanks,

Rick

I found one here for cheap money: http://www.mercstuff.com/page15.htm

That said, there was one zip-tie'd to the mechanism where the shift cable attaches to the engine, on my boat, when I bought it. It's a pretty simple piece of black plastic. Maybe you already have one...

Nah! My boat came with a "precision designed" OMC 460 King Cobra!

And it wasn't in the stuff that came with the Mercruiser Bravo either. I'll just get one from either the Mercstuff guys or someone else. I just somehow got the impression that maybe the guys with the experience had a way of doing it without the gage.
