bravo I goes into gear with a thud.

I recently took my boat out and it developed a problem. While the boat had previously been shifting fine(quietly and smoothly) all day, back at the dock I noticed it was shifting into forward and reverse gears rather rough. And by rough I don't mean grinding but rather a sharp thud. A little history: the drive has 190hrs on it. The drive oil was changed within the last 30hrs. I've always know better than to ease it in gear but rather I push the lever into gear quickly and firmly. Earlier that day I ran the boat pretty hard in reverse to pull off a beach. The motor was in the trim up position when I did this. Could this be a probable cause or is it more likely something as simple as fishing line entangled in the prop? Any ideas?

Has your idle changed?? A higher idle will cause this problem.

No, the idle has not changed at all.

I removed about 2ft of fishing line from behind the prop yesterday. Problem solved! So far there is no indication that the seal was damaged so I'll keep my fingers crossed. This was the cheapest repair I've ever had.
