5.7 EFI with bravo 3. The trailer switch was removed by a previous owner do limit switch is not the issue I assume. Prior to yesterday the button on throttle operated the trim/tilt all the way up and down. Yesterday I was underway for 5 hours, got back to the ramp and it would not tilt up at all. No click, no nothing. I had to remove the pin and use a ratchet strap just to get it home. At home I checked all wires. All are tight. Removed most and cleaned them up and tested. Still goes down just not up. Disclosure, the resivoir has gotten water in it previously which I found and cleaned and fixed. Also, sometimes before it would also not trim up but if I hit the button enough times it would eventually work. But now nothing. Think solenoids or entire assembly? Thank you.

solenoids faulty, not uncommon at all for merc trim systems to have faulty solenoids

i've seen the when they actually click but still dont pass current across the secondary posts

try jumping the secondaries and see if drive goes up, blue up green down

I’m no electrician, can you explain exactly which wires I need to jump? Thank you.

three wires coming from the pump motor, blue, green and black. you need to locate which solenoid controls the up (blue) circuit. jumper 12 volts directly to the blue lead terminal on the solenoid secondary (large post)

Its either the relay (solenoid) or the switch. At the relays jump the Red wire (fuse e) to the small Blue/White wire. This should energize the relay and the pump will raise the drive.

If it works then its either a connection or the switch in the throttle. Mine stopped working and turned out to be the 3-pin connector. My other boat had the switch in the handle was bad

So I jumped the red and blue/white wires and it trimmed up, so it’s not the solenoid. Should I suspect the switch in the handle? Would it be obvious if I inspected it? Thank you.

I would check the connector first, its right by the pump
Connect ohm meter between blue/white and red then press up, should show continuity.

If it doesn't need to get into the switch and check each wire back to the connector

If it checks good then check other side of connector following the wires, but disconnect battery or pull trim pump fuse while using ohm scale

Yes, that will work
Just don't want voltages when meter is on ohms scale

Just to be clear, you mean to check between the blue/white wire terminal and red wire terminal right? Not inside the plug that has three wires going into it.

Yes

The Red goes to the center of the trim switch. When the switch moves it either connects the Red to the Blue/While (up) or Green/White (down), just trying to find out if trim switch is making contact and it makes it out to the 3 prong plug

With ohm setting to 200. Not sure if that’s right or not I got 17 with battery off between red and blue/white. Is that good or bad? Thank you.

When button pushed down and checking ohms between red and green I get 4.3. And down works every time. With down switch still being pushed I checked red and blue white again for giggles and I got 4.3 exactly. Does that make any sense?

200 is high and have found the area of the problem.
Check continuity on just the Blue/white,if still high its probably the connector

200 was the setting I had the multimeter on in ohms setting. The reading was 17

I just checked red to blue white with no button push and it reads 17. Same as with the red to green with no button push. Battery was off. Could this be because I have had the trailer switch disconnected for years? Also the trailer switch is still installed on the dash but the three wires (2 red and 1 blue) are still present. Should I hook those back up? If so where do they go?

How do I check the pump side? The red blue and black wire go into the pump through a rubber boot or something.
