no work has been done to the outdrive or the engine since it worked last
all other gauges are working fine

Re: Bravo 3 Speedometer

Two places to check. The pickup hole in the leading edge of the drive can get plugged with debris in the water.

Another thing that can happen is the hose come off or get connected or the plastic connector breaks.

Re: Bravo 3 Speedometer

Not likely a ruptured hose as there would be water in the boat. There are no electrical connections on a speedometer except for the internal light. Water pressure acting on captive air in the system is what makes the dial move. Follow the hose from the back of the speedo to the engine.

Re: Bravo 3 Speedometer

When I was investigating the same issue and went to check the pickup hole for dirt, I could not tell using a wire if I was hitting packed dirt or the case so I found using a very small drill bit and turning slowly by hand both directions freed up the dirt that was there.

Guys

I will be pulling the boat home on Friday
Trying to get this fixed this weekend
If I find that the intake hole is clogged then remove and I am good to go

but

If the tubing has fallen off what do I need to do before I reattach it
(do I need to blow out the line or what )

If the tube has fallen off, you need to see if the fitting is still attached and not broken. If it's intact, you need to re-install it, in accordance with Don's photo above, and it'll work. No need to blow out any lines.
