I'm in the process of doing a swivel shaft seal/shaft, bellows, intake hose etc on a 2007 350 mag/B3. On the transom and midway to the seawater pump there is what appears to be quick disconnect fittings on the red 1 1/4 hose. Black plastic with a wire retainer, I pulled off the retainer and they still wont budge on either rnd, I was able to pull the hose off at the clamp and finish the job but how the heck are these fittings supposed to come apart?

Is there some trick to it besides moving the retaining wire, they seem to be locked tight.

You need to ensure there is no inward pressure holding the two hose connector fittings together or it will be difficult to separate.

Position a screwdriver under the retainer clip. Once the lift retainer clip is to the open position, Pull on the seawater inlet hose near the connection point with an approximate force of (25 lbf).

Note for installation, The tabs and slots are sized to only mate at the correct orientation. Mate the small tab with the small slot. The retainer clip snaps into place and resumes the closed position when properly connected.

Thats what I figured, I even took the clip off completely and they would not budge, I had plenty of room and tried to separate it as hard as I could where I thought I was going to break something. It was easier to loosen the clamp and pull the hose off the fitting so it wasnt a very effective quick disconnect lol.

I didnt know if they needed to be twisted or something else besides the wire clip was holding it, I'll mess with it again when I change the impeller and see if I can get it apart.

To be straight up honest with you, i wouldn't / don't. On some boats, It's sometimes could be even more difficult to reinstall then to uninstall.

I probably wont mess with it then, I didnt really NEED to get them apart but if they did come apart easier it could have saved me some time over getting the hose off the fitting.

Thanks for the reply.
