I got a question, maybe someone can help. I noticed my out drive oil reservoir was a little low the other day, sitting on the trailer in the driveway. I added about a inch to the reservoir, I checked the fill hole on the out drive to make sure it wasn't milky and it was not. I just put the boat back in the water, while running i noticed oil burning smell, raised the hatch and the reservoir was overflowing out of the cap, I dipped out a little oil (down to the full line) ran a little more and it was back overflowing, its not real milky, but does have a little different look to it than new oil. Checked the lower fill hole after pulling it back out of the water, there is oil, its not really milky colored, but with examining with a flashlight, it looks like there may be some tiny shiny metal specs in the oil (kinda looks glittery in the flashlight beam). anyone got any advice?

Re: bravo 1 problems ?

I've seen several Bravo drives that do that. All needed rebuilt. The bearings get metal on them from either bad bearings or bad gears and causes the drive to run a lot hotter, which boils the gear lube out of the upper gear box. Then things run dry and it gets worse.
Get it checked out before you run it again.
