Ok, I was reading an earlier post about some folks having issues with NEW exhaust manifolds that leak because of poor quality. I'm soon to be replacing my 302 angine and exhaust manifolds, and I need some advice on brand of manifolds. I need them to be good quality, but also economically priced. My original was log style. It has been recommended I convert to the center riser style, but I'll have to find other mounting options for the kill switch (?), and the starter solenoid, which were mounted to the starboard manifold, and the fuel filter which was mounted to the port manifold. :(

With you so far...

You can have one OR the other, not both.....

Three brands worth considering... Genuine, genuine and (you guessed it) genuine... Here's the bad news. Merc never made centre riser manifolds for the Ford engines...

Sorry to be the bearer of such ill tidings...

I personally have had good luck with Barr and Osco manifolds.

Barr is very good and made in the USA...... No matter which you chose buy the OEM Gaskets, much better..

I ran Sierra manifolds this year without any trouble. Went to west marine and they wanted $197 each. Went online, found some random website advertising them for $115, went back to west marine and they matched the price. Always buy the Mercruiser riser gaskets though - they have a stainless core and seal far better than any aftermarket gaskets.

Barr or Buddy Barr castings is the OEM casting house for PCM, Volvo-Penta, and some Mercruiser parts. They also cast for Edelbrock and many of the automotive companies. you can not go wrong with Barr.
