I have a 2003 F115 Yamaha with 4 hours on it. I put it in the water today (its third time getting wet) and there was no water cooling. Nothing coming out of the little bypass tube. I let is run for a couple minutes and still nothing.
So now I guess I have to take it into the shop. Has anyone heard of this problem. Is there any suggestions on something I may be doing wrong.
Thanks.

Re: Brand NEW Yamaha - 4 hours old

UPDATE.

I thought that I would take a closer look at the engine before I called the repair shop.

NO ONE will ever guess why I was not getting water cooling.

I hooked it up to the garden hose and still did not get water coming out of the bypass hole (the visual water stream out the side of the motor).
So then I pulled the hose off the little plastic through hole fitting. As soon as I pulled the hose off about a dozen little insect larvae flushed out. It was disgusting. So I was actually getting cooling just the bypass was plugged. NOT yamaha's fault. I dont know what type of larvae it was, maybe wasp or something.

Maybe it is not to late to catch some fish today!!!

Ven

Yep, been there, done that. I live in central North Carolina; we have what is called a mud bee here. It is like a wasp, it will find the pee hole in an outboard a convenient place to lay a couple of eggs then it stuffs it with spiders and seals it up with mud. Dang hard to see unless you really look. The eggs hatch, the larva eats the spiders the baby wasp breaks out and the cycle continues. What I do is and I recommend this only if you make it part of your pre launch routine is this. Take a small piece of Velcro, make a hole in the middle just large enough for the pee tube to be exposed and stick it over (around) the hole. Take the hook/loop piece and just stick it over the hole. I have another piece just to the side of the one covering the hole and I just move the hook/loop piece from the pee hole to the piece not covering the hole prior to launch. It solved the problem for me. Hope you caught some fish.

Very common. Those are called mud dobbers here. Same bug I'll bet.

If it's a problem we just stick a screw or little bolt in the tube. If they do get in there a little compressed air takes care of it. Shocks the heck out of them too I bet!

Big problem here in SE Louisiana. Just about all motors around here get dirt dobbers building in their pee holes. About first thing we check before we go out. Education can be aggravating/frustrating sometimes.
Fair skyies

:)
