I recently purchased a 2007 195LR Stingray Bowrider w/ a 4.3L Volvo Penta outdrive. I took the boat out onto the lake for the first time on Friday afternoon for the first 2 hr break in period. The boat ran incredibly well! However, every time I turned it off the engine seemed to run for several seconds before dying. I called the dealer (Chatlee), and he said that the boat was dieseling and that it should go away, but that they would check the ignition timing at the 20 hr service mark. The dealer also recommended allowing the engine to idle for a minute or so before turning it off. Still, allowing the boat to idle did not prevent the dieseling. I'm using 87 octane gas (regular). Is this normal for a new engine? Should this be any cause for concern? Is there any risk in running the boat for the remaining 18 hrs before having the oil changed? I'm looking forward to years of fun on this boat and don't want to cause any problems that might surface down the road. Thanks!
