Brand new Tohatsu 3.5 hp doesn't start

Hi,
I got my new Tohatsu 3.5 hp yesterday from Online outboards. Put in oil to top of sight glass around 8 oz, filled with gas,
turned on gas petcock, verified stop switch lock switch installed, control lever in neutral and opened vent on tank. Pulled on choke and set throttle to start. Engine wouldn't start. Never got it to run. Don't want to wait a month for the dealer to look at it. Thanks for your help Never expected problems with a brand new outboard.

Turns out that carb was flooded. Started after opening throttle. Didn't expect that.

You overfilled the oil, and that could lead to disaster. Sight glass 1/2 way only.

Too much choke will do that...

With throttle grip set to start position choke it max twice, back choke in and pull rope till motor starts, let it warm sufficiently before going out.
