brakes or no brakes

Hi all, new to the boards.<br />My question is towing a 26 ft SeaRay with twin 200 Evinrudes with a 1994 ford f-250 should I add brakes? no idea how much the boat and trailer weighs but it is galvy not aluminum.<br />any input would greatly be appretiated.

Howdy, Bloodclot.<br /><br />FL law requires brakes on loads with a gross weight over 3,000lb. That's you. :)

Bloodclot<br />With a boat that big on a pickup I would add brakes to both axels, unless the back of your truck has a lot of wieght.<br />Welcome to the board.

I agree with the above and wouldn't think twice about adding some brakes. It's not an expensive thing to do either.

Brakes are not an option, but a necessity for a rig that big.

I towed a 3000 pound load with a pickup and after the boat and trailer tried to pass me on the left, i did not think twice. Thyank goodness the guy in the mini van was paying attention.
