brake sys. Replacement

Hello, fellas I have a 94 rangertrail trailer that has the hydralic brake system that is in need of repair or replacement. I should note that it is a removable tongue *** well.<br /><br />The fluid has gone chunky and is black as Coal. <br /><br />there is a # on the unit to call for replacement and of course it is no longer active. <br /><br />I've disconnected everything and have it all in the garage floor, now i'm awaiting the professional assistance of the board for recommendations.<br /><br /><br />D

Hi D, welcome to iboats!!<br /><br />Crudy fluid causes all sorts of problems, rust/corrosion being the worst - especially if it has been sitting in the system for a long time. Reconditioning can be an option, depending on the severity of damage, otherwise it's replacement time.<br /><br />Describe what you have on the garage floor.<br /><br />Master cylinder? Wheel cylinders? Brake lines?

TRy taking your parts to NAPA or another professional parts store. You'd be amazed at what you can get from an auto parts store. DO NOT try AutoZone, Pep Boys, Advance Auto etc. After rejuvenating your braking system I would suggest power bleeding it to ensure all of the air is purged from the new lines and hoses. You can buy a pressure bleeder or take it to a shop and have them do it. Gravity bleeding works, but not as well or as thoroughly. I bought a Motive Products pressure bleeder on eBay, brand new for a very reasonable price. Other brands are available but I found this very economical for the quality.<br /><br />Good luck on your endeavor and most of all DO NOT SKIMP! It can't hurt if it can go. But it certainly will if it can't WOAH!
