Thank you all for your help as I redo my '83 Mac 25 trailer.

I have encountered another problem when I hooked up the lights this morning.

Everything works fine except, when I step on the brake, the tail lights go out. they worked fine this spring before I tore it down. I have made one addition. I added a 3 light bar.

I am thinking I need to isolate this so it is just connected to the running lights, but there is only one wire running to each tail light.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again for all of your help. As a new boat owner, these forums have been a lifesaver.

Mike

Re: Brake lights go out

Just another bit of information...I have a good ground throught the connector thanks th the advise in the other brake light post and the grounding suggestions from my other post.

As I was testing my ground, the taillights stayed on with the ground from the connector disconnected.

Also the trailer is not on the ball.

Thanks

Mike

You should have four wires, white is ground, brown is tail lights, and yellow and green are turning lights. One tail light will have a brown, and yellow, and the other tail light will have brown and green wires. Your light bar, and side markers will go on the brown wire. :D :D

By the way, there is no ground wire coming off your tail lights. just the tail lite wire, and the turn signal wire. Your ground for your tail lights, is metal to metal, scratch the paint off where youur bolt head, nut and washer fastens them for your ground. :D :D

Plug in your lights & turn on your vehicles hazard lights & see if they work on the trailer.

Re: Brake lights go out

Thanks for the posts.....

My problem was not with the ground at all. It was with the hot connections in the lights. They were loose. The only thing making the connection was a press on locking washer on a plastic post. I CAREFULLY threaded a 6-32 nut on each plastic post. This tightened the connections and all is well.

Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem.

Mike
