What is the term where longitude and latitude meet? confluence point???

I seem to remember there is a specific term for where the longitude and latitude cross.

We had discussed this a long time ago here.......

Yes, you got it dusty!!!! Confluence point is the term for where whole degree lines of lat/long intersect. There may be other names I'm not familiar with.....

Re: Brain cramp!!! Longitude/Lattitude

Wow... thanks!! Yes, there was a news brief about school kids doing geocaching and I remembered there were 4 points in VT in whole degrees but was not sure of the term.

I do remember there is one near JB's place in TX.

Amazing what canned air will do to get the dust out of the brain!! :D

And just to keep it nautical, a confluence is the place where two rivers or streams meet.

I didn't know about 'confluence points'. Thanks. Here's a little wiki article of interest: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degree_Confluence_Project

90.0000000w and 45.0000000n is just down the road from me.

Apparently its something special, judging by all the cars that stop to look at the roadside sign.
