I have a 20in transom and 15" short shaft 1engines which I am going to fit on a fixed s.steel bracket 12" behind the transom . My question is whether I still need to drop the bracket to allow for the shorter shaft or should I fit it at the same hieght as the transom as it will be 12" behind the tansom.<br />gabby@intnet.mu

Re: brackets

GENERAL RULE, FOR EVERY 1 INCH BACK THE MOTOR MUST GO UP 1/2 INCH, THEREFORE YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE UP 5 INCHES, YOU SHOULD HAVE TO RAISE YOUR MOTOR 1 INCH, THIS WILL MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE IN A SHORT SHAFT MOTOR AND YOUR BRACKET.
