I was able to find a Fuel pump repair kit as well as a carburetor kit for my M18C2 today, that was like finding a needle in a hay stack! New Old Stock stuff, sitting in the shop of an old time boat mechanic! Ye Ha!

Congrats, if you're happy with that 18, it's always a pleasure keeping that old horse ruming fine like in the good old days. At least parts for my 18 D2 are easy to get as it's the lastest upgraded 18. Anyway stock a full box of different parts, so isn't likely will let me stranded easily.

Well looks like I am going to have to take the carb off and tear it apart, new fuel pump, still no fuel to the carb, so something is blocked in there, I can squeeze the bulb, and it gets hard. Tried it yesterday and no run, so I pull a fuel line sprays fuel all over the place, so it had pressure on the line, but not getting to the carb.

Remove fuel hose from engine. Gently prime bulb, with finger push connector's end internal valve, check there's a good fuel flow out to know fuel delivery from tank to end connector is good, If not, there's an internal fuel obstruction in the lower pick up, small mesh filter probably clogged, Unscrew fuel pick up , clean filter and tank immaculate clean.

If fuel delivery is ok, probably there's an obstruction in carb's lower bowl passage to internal carb ? Spray generric carb spray through passage. If you have assembled pump's diaphragm backwards, no way fuel will flow to carb.

Well I know the diaphragm is put together correctly, and I know the tank is working correctly, I cleaned it and put a new lower screen in the feed because I can use this tank on my Mercury also, the fitting on the tank is an OMC fitting and the lines are made up, one for the Tohatsu and one for the Mercury and the Tohatsu did work, until I dislodge the bug out of it a couple of weeks ago, so I built a new fuel line and bulb for it.. Currently I have bypassed the Tohatsu fuel filter with a small inline filter and know it is good. All that said, I am sure something is blocking the inlet to the fuel bowl in the carb, so I just need to take it off and carefully clean it to make sure all of the passages are clean.

If everything is flawlessly with fuel delivery from tank to engine connector, the only possible restriction could be at the float needle valve orifice. As an anecdote, once assembled fuel pump middle diaphragam backwards, the bulb turned hard as a rock, when releasing engine connector sprayed lots of fuel to sides. The small hole located on upper diaphragm which works to the right was assembled to the left. If you'll be dismantling carb again and no obstruction is found on carb bowl, check diaphragam again.

I did find a company today, that sells all of the parts for this carb, although, I did find a kit for it, it is nice to know I can purchase individual parts if needed to actually make it a brand new carb again. I am pretty sure there is something plugging the float needle, I have had this happen on auto carbs before, and after I found the bug in the fuel line, I would not be surprised at anything.

In your particular case, probably a second bug is bugging correct fuel delivery again. Being a round year boater, haven't changed a carb kit in 20 boating years. Usually the only parts that wears with time is needle valve tip, float to certain extent and middle carb gasket if you want added. If you maintain carb clean in excellent working order no need to change a complete carb kit, it's waisted money. Changing 100% parts of a carb kit will not better engine performance when you only need to change 30% usual parts.
