I've got a 2006 Bayliner 195 and last weekend my buddy accidentally sat on the swing away/walk through windshield that leads to the bow (thankfully it was not the curved piece!!)

Have any of you had to replace this?
I emailed Bayliner and all they could tell me was the part number for the entire assembly. I of course only need the glass because there is nothing wrong with the frame.

If the frame is good, take it to a local glass place and see what they can do for you.

Re: Bowrider windshield

had a broken passenger side glass and frame from a tree a few months ago on my GF s boat...looked long and hard before we finally got the local dealer to divulge that "parts" were available for the windshield. her is a 2008 Byaliner 175...flat windshield... five piece design..with a walk through center section

go to a local dealer and be strong!!!

good luck

by the way it was really cheap.. they wanted about $2,000 for a full windshield , but the one pane with frame was only $136

Re: Bowrider windshield

Wow $2k down to $136 is much better!

Lrider-I have heard to use tempered glass (sorry if that's not exactly spelled right)-is that the same as shatter proof?

Re: Bowrider windshield

tempered glass explodeds into little pieces

laminated glass cracks and can be full shattered and remain intact... they are prone to cracks, think rock chip in car windshield and the crack the comes from it clean across the glass..

lexan, plastic, non breakable... flexable, simialr to plexiglass which scraches and cracks. not sure, but think lexan scratches too..

that's as much as i know about glass... ;)

Re: Bowrider windshield

the glass in my GFs bayliner windshield was tempered...it shattered into a zillion small 1/4" or smaller pieces...just like an automotive side window!!!!

thats to keep you from getting sliced in half when you fly into it in an accident....

id think youd want to stay with that kind of glass!!!

You mean he didn't mean to sit down, his body just involuntarily sat down?

Wow, his life must be difficult. :)

He was leaning over the boat and his butt wound up going through the window...BUT he is going to pay for it so that works out in the end...

Taylormade manufactures our windshields for your year of boat and unfortunately, they will not sell glass only. The only way we can sell any of their windshield panels (port wing, starboard wing, center panel) are as an assembly.

Re: Bowrider windshield

I have a 93 Sunbird, which are no longer made. My side windshield shattered from a falling tree limb. I ended up getting a piece of Lexan at Home Depot and cut a new piece from a template I traced using the still intact window frame. The lexan sheet 3' x 6' was $96. Looks as good as new, and the lexan is pretty easy to work with.

That's a great idea to use that Lexan stuff. How has it held up for you? For most part I have the windshield swung open to the side so it isn't a huge deal...THanks for the advice!

Just installed it a month ago, so it's too soon to tell. Looks just like glass, in fact, it's clearer than the stock windshields in there now.

I have used Lexan to make odd shapes before. Very easy to do. Warming it with a heat gun will allow you to form it however you need to...

Good Luck !

Wow, $136 from a Bayliner dealer? I'm being quoted over $500 to replace the center walk-through section in my 2001 Bayliner bowrider from 2 different dealers. Wishing I could find someone who could make the darn thing for me.
