I am looking for some input from this knowledgable community. I am a Noob!

1990 Welcraft, primary use is pulling the offsprings around on a tube. The wife also considers this a mobile sunbathing platform.

The catch: I recently began fishing and would really like to be able to troll; and I had main engine failure on the Columbia River two summers ago, so a way to get to a ramp without paddling would be a nice safety feature.

Funds are tight, so I'm leaning electric. I already have a second marine battery sitting idle that I would use. My question is which type would work best for my boat, and/or which options should I avoid.

I've been looking at small footprint bow mounts, transom mounts with a lift plate, swim platform with a plate, or engine mount trolling motors.

If you were in my situation (with limited funding), what would you do and how would you go about doing it? I want to avoid having anything my wife will think is in the way of her tanning. Pictures of your solutions would also help. I am a visual learner.

The cheapest and most effective would be a used long shaft small tiller outboard around 8 Hp.
You would have to sacrifice 1/2 of the swimming platform and add an adjustable trolling motor mount to the transom.
To steer, just use the main outdrive as a rudder.

Looks to me like a good candidate for an outdrive mounted electric.

Check out the Mall.

Your pics are too big. Please downsize them to 640x480.
