The storage facility my 1994 Celebrity Status 240 bowrider was stored at for the winter collapsed due to heavy snow. To make a long story short, the cost to repair is more than my policy is worth, so the insurance company is cutting me a check for the policy amount and allowing me to keep the boat to do with as I wish. I had planned to purchase a newer boat, but this boat is in such good shape I'm considering keeping it, at least until I find something else I want.
So the big question is what to do about the broken windshield so that the boat is usable. Taylor Made no longer has the mold for my boat so I'd have to get custom work done or replace the entire 5-piece windshield with a new one. Needless to say, this has turned out to be a $5K - $7K ordeal, much more than I'm willing to spend. So I'm thinking of either attempting to bend the frame back and cut plexiglass to fit (if possible), or just removing the entire windshield and perhaps placing one of those small windshields like you see on a bass boat around the console area. Any thoughts on these two options? Any other options I'm not thinking of? Again, not wanting to spend a lot of money given my current intentions of how I'm planning to use the boat. I attached a pic of the damage, hopefully it shows up in the thread.
