Hey guys, looking for a permanent bow light to guide me in after dark, (on the lake do not wish to rear end another boater adrift without power, almost happened several years ago) not a flood, need more of a spotlight beam. Research on the net shows numerous types, anyone have any experience with Go Light, adjustable between flood and spot? Thanks in advance for your input.:)

This is probably the point at which you are warned about the issues of using such a light like a headlight on your car (illegal, ruins your night vision).

Exactly. Spotlight is only useful in special situations-docking at night, picking out landmarks or markers etc. Never underway at speed.

I use a very old hand held type that is mounted on a swing up pedistle.

I have the wireless remote go light on the bow mount. It's fast and easy to install but I only use it for docking when I get in late from fishing. Quite happy with the setup for my intended purpose.
My fishing buddy put a pair of them on top of his tower and looks like deadliest catch when he turns them both on at night but I still wouldn't want to run very fast with them. He mostly uses them for docking also.

Re: Bow mounted spotlight

Thanks all, I'm not familiar with a spotlight being illegal, but I did see this mentioned in another post. Lots of times I'm running in after dark and by myself, hand held not a safe option. Had a spotlight on another boat, didn't run light continuously, only flip on and off at times I felt lighting was needed. Lake I'm on mostly has steep banking on both sides the last mile or so to the ramp, pitch dark! As I mentioned in my original post, I was coming in one night, pulled back on the throttle as I was nearing a bridge...two guys in a big vee hull paddling, bow light only light on and not visible to me. Thanks again and post any other lighting options you have experience with.
