Looking to buy a bow mount trolling motor for a 16 ft glastron. Due to the fact that it doesn't have a raised floor in the front most of the bow mount motors won't work due to the fact that the wiring for the foot pedal is to short. So i looked into the ones with the longer wiring or remote controls one and it isn't in the budget. So i thought why not buy one with the shorter wiring for the foot control and peel back protective cover check the wires make sure they go black to black whit to white etc and then splice in a longer section of wiring. Heat shrink it then wrap it in electrical tape or get that paint type stuff that protects wiring. Would this work? Has anyone done this before and if so was it pretty straight forward just match wire up. Maybe use thicker wire for the splice. Anything?

The theory is right, but it would void the warranty on the foot pedal assembly. Assuming the foot pedal plugs into the base, maybe you could find the proper connectors and make an extension cord?
