Well I am heading up north to the beautiful boundary waters area, specifically devil track lake north of Grand Marais in the Superior National Forest. 6 of us have made this an annual event but this year I will have a boat! It will be my 2nd time pulling the boat long distance (1st was when I bought it an hour and a half away). This is a 228 mile drive.

I replaced one of the trailer tires as the tire was warped from the PO letting it sit w/o enough air in it. The bearings are lubed and I did the once over on the truck.

This is a pretty rocky lake so I plan on anchoring off the bow and either staking the stearn or tieing it to a tree off of our campsite.

I really hope all goes well on this trip as it will make me and the BAC (ball-and-chain) more comfortable trailering. I am looking forward to a 4 day weekend of sun, fishing and just enjoying the awesome MN scenery!

That is a beautiful area, I am envious! Never had a powerboat up there, just canoeing for many days at a crack. One time I was out there , well off the Gunflint trail, I did not see another person for 5 days ( other than my best friend and paddling partner) Funny thing, when I return to civilization from being up there, it seems like I am returning to a foreign land.

Keep us posted- I for one, was always curious how the power-boating was like there.

Enjoy the trip!

Good thing the water is so clear you can see them rocks below! Watch out for those babies!

Cant top the BWCAW! I have been up there more than 22 times in 15 years. I also have never power boated but I plan to never do that. Personal feeling to keep the BWCAW quiet and paddle only, but nothing against you folks that enjoy it! Fishing for Perch and Walleyes cant be better but be prepared to catch PLENTY of cigar northerns while fishing. Send me a PM and Ill let you know what my best kept secret is for lures / bait up there although after August it really is no better than everything else.

Post some pics and send along the stories! Always good to hear on the BWCAW! I wont, sadly, be making it up there this year (first miss in 10 years) as my two BWCAW buds both had babys this year. I have a 4 year old and plan to get him in there next year! Learn to do early is what my Gramps always told me.
