Hey there,
I just put a deposit down on a 2001 Maxum 2400SCR. Just waiting for ice to melt for a sea trial and she will be all mine. My previous boat was a 2004 Maxum 1800SR3. It did not have nearly the amount of bells and whistles that the new boat has. We went and looked at it today and I have a few questions to start here that hopefully I can get some help with. One thing that was mentioned was that the Isinglass is beginning to fog up a bit and would prob need replacement soon, specifically the front one. Is that something that is just replaced as a panel? Or would I order a whole new setup of canvas and glass? Never really seen this type of setup except from afar on other boats, so no real idea how they work. Second question....this boat has a shore power hookup as well as a marine head (I know not related) . Is there any type of reading I can do on these types of systems. I don't want to blow any breakers or anything trying to learn the shore power systems, and I don't want to end up with face full of **** if I use the bathroom wrong. Don't even know how to empty the waste system out. I feel like a boat newbie again lol. I did download a user manual I found online for the boat (it's for a 2000, but I think should be close enough) and I ordered the Seloc manual for the I/O, but would love to do some reading on the other stuff for the boat. Thanks in advance if anyone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!!!

Isinglass can be replaced by individual panels. A upholstery or canvas shop can make one up from the old panel

Will need a shore power cord 120V 30A if it will be plugged into power at a dock. If it will not be wet slipped then could use a pigtail and extension cord to connect at home. The cable connects to the boat and supplies 120V to the main breaker panel similar to your home

Pigtail

The head (toilet) works easy enough and depends on which one you have. There are vacuflush, manual hand pump and electric pump. There should be a fitting on the boat labeled "waste" which a hose is connected to suck out the holding tank.

Awesome! Thank you for the response! From reading the manual I found, the head unit has some sort of valve on it that allows raw water to come in and I guess that's how it flushes, Appears to be electric pump from what I can see. It will be stored in a slip, so I will look into the shore cord.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm very familiar with the anodes. I used to replace them every year on my old boat. Bellows were replaced in 2019.

Good luck with the new boat.sounds like you need a buddy with similar to hang out with and show you the ropes a bit.One VERY BIG difference is going to be the handling while docking or in close quarters.Especially if you leave the plastic window up and there is any kind of breeze. If all attached to your plastic windows is in good shape then any canvas shop can replace just the clear plastic.Request "optically clear" plastic. It will cost more than basic plastic however it will last much longer with proper care and there will be no distortion while looking through the plastic windows.Charlie

Thanks Charlie. I luck out as far as maneuverability goes...my new slip I literally just pull right up to my dock. No other boats next to me, which is awesome!!! Appreciate the suggestion on the optically clear. I will make sure to ask for that.

A friend had one of these for a few years. Was on it lots. Not usually a fan of maxums and similar....but I was really impressed with how stable she was, as well as how well she went too. Fairly capable in choppy water too. Blistering quick for a boat that size. Has a stepped hull. His was powered by a 350 mag mpi with a bravo 3 and 26” props. She would touch 50 mph GPs right up the top of the rpm. Great going. Acceleration was also bloody good too.

Thanks!! That is great to hear!! I have always liked the look of these boats. And I really enjoyed my 1800SR3, but it was just a bit small for us and got bounced around quite a bit. Glad to hear she can handle a but of chop, my last boat was very low in the water so felt every...single...bump lol. The one I am getting has an MCM 5.0 which I believe is a 305. Not positive of outdrive yet, but pretty sure it is an Alpha. Which I am fine with as my other boat had an Alpha 1 gen 2...so I am VERY familiar with the drive. Which is always a good thing.

It sounds like you haven't completed the sale yet (pending sea trial), so best advice is to just ask the seller how some of these things work. Some people couldn't be bothered to give you the time of day. Others like myself are happy to answer any questions and generally start you out on the right path after a purchase.

The seller should tell you about how to operate/flush the head. I would always verify the condition of things that they've said were replaced (bellows) just in case.
