Bought 15hp Honda, no data plate

I bought a 15hp Honda kicker today and I have some questions.

First off, it's my first Honda, or even 4 stroke for that matter. The data plate is missing, so I can't get a model number. I believe it to be a 1990's BF15. Shaft length is measured at 23", which is a shame because I need a 20". Is a "Long" shaft 20"s on an old honda, and I might have an extra long? It has a 10x6.5 four blade prop, is that a high thrust prop for this motor? I got it cheap and it has a brand new carb, manifold piece from carb to block, plugs, oil, impeller, and maybe something else I'm forgetting. Throttle linkage is a little wonky, I think I might need a new rod from carb to tiller crank assembly, the one I have isn't threaded on the end and it appears that's what I need.

And here are my real dumb Honda newbie questions:
Does it have a Honda specific fuel connector, or is it OMC like it looks? I didn't want to force my OMC hose onto it.
Can you put controls on these? It didn't look very obvious.
Feels like about 100lbs, is that the same as the 9.9?
Is the one I have basically the same as the grey square cowl motors?

Unfortunately I'll likely have to sell or trade it off for a 20" shaft 4 stroke, but I'd like to know what to tell people I have.

Thanks

Why?

My transom at the spot I keep a kicker is 19 inches, this one hangs past that a fair amount. I've been using that 7.5 SS evinrude that's in the background with some success. I still think I need 20 inches. I don't use a bracket of any kind, I don't want to either.

For a trolling motor the extra 3" doesn't make a difference, well, I shouldn't say that, it will actually make it work a little better.

It looks like the motor in the background is a short shaft.

Yeah it sit's an inch or so above the bottom of the boat, works ok but runs just shy of WOT to move me 5 kts. I'm not interested in fishing, just need to go slow(and quiet) while in no wake 7 knot speed restricted areas, and to use as a backup to the main. Just need to be able to chat with friends while going slow and not chugging gas with the V4 evinrude.

It's gonna hang in the water while on plane it looks like. Maybe I need to accept the fact that I need one of those kicker brackets. But I'm already really pushing it with max transom weight.

Just raise it up slightly on the transom (it doesn't need to sit all the way down on the transom), if it's still too low you can just use a plate that raises it up a couple of inches, no need for a large bracket.

Thanks I'll give that some thought..

The boat has a "recommended" HP of 110, I've got that 115 evinrude on there. The little 7.5 kicker was never an issue on the transom in my mind, but now with this honda I might be a little concerned. It's a 1966 20' wood(with outer glass) cabin cruiser.

Any input on my other questions?

Also, the prop was loose(had a wobble) so I tightened the nut and now it doesn't wobble but still doesn't seem legit to me. What is the best source of parts for these old honda's? Thought I read once that they don't make parts for them anymore.

Parts can tough to find on old Hondas

No idea on the fuel connector, but it's easy enough try yours on there. People change to a different model of fitting sometimes when they have two different motors, so you never know.

Controls might be around, but finding them may be a real challenge.

You would need to find an old spec sheet, or weigh it.

You would need to pull up a parts diagram to know, but they didn't change much for a long time.

I guess I need to nail down a year or a range. I think it could be something like '97-01' from what I've been trying to figure out. Once I've got the year I can get more info.

And also I'm trying to figure out if I have a silver(black/white) decal or if it's the red decal that's faded.
