Bottom Paint??

I have a 1986 Chris Craft, the bottom paint is coming off and the whole thing is faded form being outside. I want to try and restore it. Is there any type of paint at my hardware store that I can paint the bottom with?? And then any suggestions on the sides and the rest of the boat??<br />Andrew

Not sure. I bought it was in pretty bad shape.. the hull is good condition but the pait is faded and you can see whit throuhg the red in someplaces. It is kept on a trailer, but I am not sure how it was kept before that. Does that help. I would like to find some kind of inexpensive way to clean it up. I was thinking that there might be some fiberglass spray paint that is water proof that I might use or something.

The boat will be used mostly in freshwater. Like 90% of the time. Maybe a run throuhg the bay once a year. Will come out everytime.

Where can I get Farm implement paint? Can I paint the whole hull with that and does it come in a spray can or does it need a sprayer?

Before you paint her sides you should see if you can buff it to bring back the color - if she is original gelcoat you'd be surprised at the results.<br /><br />Sound like the paint on the bottom is anti-fouling paint which is designed to wear off. Was the boat used in salt before? is the bottom kind of chalky? Is so, you'd need to strip it all off it you wanted to paint the bottom with anything but anti-fouling

Here is what my boat looks like with the same stripe but in red, could I do the whole hull with this paint?? Would be durable. Would I have to sand the whole thing, and put primer?? What kind of primer.

It has worn off. Like the pictures except the bottom has been apitned red, can has chipped in places. Looks like a crappy job to start off. Some of has truned greenish. What kinf of stuff should I use to buff it. The red has like a white fade coat over it.
