On an 87 alpha 1 drive I have a small hole in the bottom bellows. I’ve read that its ok if it’s the exhaust bellows but cant find a post that shows which one is which, the other 3, upper, cable, water look new. The friend I got it from takes everything to a shop to get worked on. Why would you not change them all?

Because it wasn't bad at the time? Even with a little hole it's nothing to sweat - There's water there anyhow. So I wouldn't let it ruin your week-end. But get it changed soon. The hardest part is to get the round bellows on the oval ends. There is a special tool for this. If you search some past posts, I think someone made a home-made one..........J

So the bottom one is the exhaust? Can it be changed without pulling the drive? It dosent look like it. If I have to pull the drive will it damage anything if I put it off tell the end of the season, Fresh water on salt?

Thanks for the help and the forums it’s a lot of good info

If you only have a small hole (or even a large hole for that matter) in the exhaust bellows, you do not need to replace that bellows till the drive is removed during winterization. It won't hurt anything.

Cool thanks for all the info J.kopec, don s I’m a HVAC tech and don’t have a lot of time in the summer. Ill pull it this fall and get a transom kit for it. Where can I get the specialty tools at a good price? If I get parts local I pay 2 to 3 times what I can find it for on net.
and maybe witch tools needed to do this

thanks again for the help
