Reminds me of an idea I wish I were rich enough to pursue. A simple barge you can drive an RV onto. With rollers in the back like on a dyno to drive paddlewheels on either side for propulsion, and turntables for the front wheels connected to a rudder in the back for steering. Rent a few out on Lake Powell or Lake Mead. Rent my barge, use your RV. Instant Boaterhome.

I wouldn't want to be out on that thing in any kind of wind. I doubt you could control it with that 28hp Rude. Boaterhome on the rocks!

Re: botorhome

I showed this to my kids and now they have grand plans to build one of their own. The last I heard their improved model consisted of a monstrosity the size of a coal barge with a 50' house trailer on it and something like 8 big block outdrives, a couple of 200hp kickers, paddle wheels and sails for good measure. Of course the "mega boaterhome" designed by teenage boys has internet, satelite tv and room for all the girls. Also we have to get them survival suits so when they take it up to the Bearing Sea to watch the filming of "Deadliest Catch" they will be prepared. They aren't worried about sinking though because one of them has decided to fill the whole barge with flotation foam.

Re: botorhome

I floated one of those out to RR island a few years back so my Dad had a place to stay, (as he could not climb up to my cabin to sleep at night). I always float things I want on the island at night so my Liberal neighbors don't get their undies all bunched up. If I was more 'puter literate I could post some pics. Maybe Eric, (Plainsman), or Don, (Treedancer), can help me post 'em. I like it better if the place ya set the thing on does not sink or get rough water from time to time. Another benifit: (I don't have to pay Uncle Joe Stalin every year for tabs on the beast anymore either!!) Small private islands are just like unsinkable sail boats!! Great fun!! JR

What? No Confederate flag?

If a bunch of 'em moored together, would a water spout seek 'em out and clobber 'em?
