Well I think we have rivaled the 'Blizzard of 1978', which paralyzed the region for a couple of weeks. Only difference is that in 1978, it came with 1 storm that lasted a couple of days . . . this time it has been several storms over the past few weeks.

I got out yesterday (after snow blowing) to take a few photos for the albums . . . so I thought that I would share.

The snow banks are higher than the cars . . . IMG_5744.JPG

I have this huge pile around a tree in front of my house, where the snow blower has piled it up . . . probably8-9 feet high.

Ice dams and icicles have been a problem, I have shoveled the roof off 3 times . . . IMG_5742.JPG

Here is the front walk . . . 5 feet high . . . IMG_5746.JPG

the path for the oil man to get to the fill nozzle . . . my fence is 42" and you can see that the 'static' snow depth is right up there. IMG_5738.JPG

Here is the view out the kitchen window to the back deck . . . about 6 foot high drift. IMG_5735.JPG

More snow in the forecast for tonight-Tuesday, but just a dusting really.

I heard on the radio last week that someone in Boston called the cops to report their car stolen............

It was buried out on the street, not stolen.

When I was in the Army I was flown into RI for the Blizzard of 78 and cleared RI and the highways to Boston. That was quite a single storm. I feel for the people in Boston but it still does not warm up VT. Global Warming LOL. -17F this morning not counting the wind!

yep....same situation here in NS, was all good until the end of january, now its the ice age. snow piling up with no place to put it, brass monkeys heading south. dreading the thought of any big rain event.

Those pictures brings back memories when I still live up in North Eastern PA decades ago. I do remember climbing out our second story window to get the first floor doors clean off so we could get out the house. I also was in Anchorage, Alaska when they had large amounts of snow. The streets were merely a semi-cleared path between huge giant show walls. The guy we were with knew which cut out was actually the place we had to go. Otherwise you didn't know where you were...even in the city. They piled up the snow in vacant parking lots so high that you couldn't see how they could pile it up any higher. So I now live in middle Georgia and after seeing the snow up there, I'm glad I moved...

That is exactly what happen to us here in Montana last year, no real snow until the first of Feb, then it started snowing and snowed everyday for the whole month of Feb, that month of snow last year left us with 13 feet on the ground at its worse.

" rivaled the 'Blizzard of 1978' " Sorry not even close. over 50 died in Ohio alone. I have a niece (Florida girl) in Boston so been keeping a close eye on Boston weather, giving her heads up on what is coming. (I'm 8 hours away right down I90,)
Really feel bad for you guys, your not use to it, nobody is, but record snowfall vs. record blizzard are not the same.
rant over

The original forecast sounded harmless enough: ''Rain tonight, possibly mixed with snow at times. Windy and cold Thursday with snow flurries.''

People who went to bed early missed the bulletins at 9 p.m. Wednesday. They woke up to a screeching nightmare.

A monster storm with hurricane-force winds slammed into Northeast Ohio early Jan. 26, 1978, spreading an icy coat of death and destruction.

I was living in Gloucester during the storm of 1978. Having all that snow in only 2 days wreaked havoc. At least the storms you have had this month have been spread out a little so some snow removal can take place, before the next one hits you. I am pretty sure it will melt before next winter! :D
