Bonehead Mistake. Water in gas tank

Ok First off I must admit I am a bone head. I got to the ramp and it was really busy. I opened up my gas cap and put oil in the tank. Needless to say in the rush and bustle I forgot to replace the cap. It is located right in front of the motor in the splash up area. It is an onboard tank with about 15 gallons of gas in it. So I got a ton of water in the gas tank. The motor ran then bogged and died. Thats when I noticed the above bonehead mistake. I got the boat home and removed the gas line and spark plugs. I put a touch of 2 stroke oil in each hole a turned the engine over quickly. My question is what do I do next? Did I destroy anything? Any help to remedy this would be SUPER cool! Its a 1989 85HP Force.

Did you drain the carb?
We have done somewhat the same thing only with 4 wheelers. We drain the tank, carb, the muffler and pull the plug. Then spray WD-40 in the cylinder and turn it over a few times. After putting the plug back in and fresh gas we start it up. It will smoke at first but that?s the WD-40.
I have herd of people submerging there out boards without doing major damage.

Drain the carbs.
Disconnect the fuel line from the carbs.
Get all the gas out of the tank.
put in fresh gas and oil, and add a can of seafoam.
use the primer bulb to pump fuel through the lines and flush out all the water.
reconnect the fuel line to the carbs and pump it up.

Now start it and run it for a while.
