I have noticed and agreed with Bondo's signature on grease but today I was reminded of it again. My tractor was having trouble with a right turn, I greased all linkages and miracously it is fixed. That got me to thinking, Many years ago, we were deployed to the North Atlantic, up north of the Arctic Circle. Our Sound & Security Watch Stander reported Water in Shaft Alley. This was one of America's Finest Warships. Brand New Aegis Class Cruiser. After troubleshooting with Rolls Royce, The Cheng, the AUXO, The MPA, and various other folks who thought they might know, it was finally determined that the cold water was the cause. The solutions offered were, Stop & Lock, inflate the boot, Keep pumping bilges and pray. Auxo, CWO 3 Sewell, came up with packing the seal with grease. We kept the seal packed with grease and made our committments. Best of all, we didn't sink.

Bondo is famous for stating any grease is better than no grease and in this case, it saved us from meeting Davey Jones in his locker.

Wish there was a grease gun that refilled easily without a mess...I truly suck at refilling grease guns considering I do it almost daily in the fall.

have a buddy who was a pilot/mechanic in the army and he tells a story (one of many) about going to pick up a helo for regular maintenance but about halfway to Albany GA something bad sounding started and I'm light on details but he had to lay down for any hour or so for the remainder of the flight pouring in some wrong kind of oil somewhere to stay aloft. His buddy just kept passing him cups of oil along the way...
