I just got a slow speed needle valve from my Evinrude dealer for my 1957 7.5HP Fleetwin.

They informed me that Bombadier is no longer going to be providing older parts anymore. they tried to order a replacement for their stock and were informed the part is no longer available and that Bombadier was changing how old of parts they will provide. While the number of years was not mentioned, my dealer said that Mercury now only puts out parts for 10 years.

I am worried because on my model of motor, the power head needs to be pulled to change the impellor. I could only source the gasket through my dealer. My dealer has been more than happy to keep providing me parts so I don't think this is just them trying to sell me a new motor.

If you intend on keeping your vintage engine going in the future then I would stock up on some hard part items that you anticipate may require future attention.Gaskets and such can be made if all other sources fail.

Re: Bombadier/OMC parts availability changes

Hi

I just did a "mechanical" rebuild of my '78 55HP Johnson, planning to use it for a couple of years. I expect to need some parts like iginition or so in the future.
So this news is a big dissapointment for me.
Sure this is no gossip? Anybody can confirm this/had same experience. My local dealer knows nothing about it?
