the bolts in the 5hp powerhead i am rebuilding are shot and need to be replaced. I am wondering what the #7 on the head means and what replacements to use. (can i get away with going to the hardware store or do i need to order them from merc)

I have no idea what a 7 on the bolt would mean. It isn't standard us or metric.

In aluminum, anything over grade 5 is a waste. Metric 8.8 is about the same as grade 5. That's what I'd use.
