Bolting gimbal unit to bellhousing with normal bolts?

Mercruiser - volvo Penta 280 AQ's Early style

They originally had these funny stud bolts that hold the 2 together, but i am having a hard time finding replacements, is there anything wrong with using normal bolts for this, i cant see anything wrong?

are you talking about the hing pins? i had to cut one of mine to get it out. i just went to the local boat shop and they had them in stock $20. the shoulod make the aftermarket ones so they use a allen wrench instead of the splines.
