I'm not talking about a particular engine.....

Sometimes on part diagram online , Ex a Merc 15 hp, whit the serial number, they give the choice 15 or 15Bodensee.......

I know Bodensee is a lake in Europe where the emission law is very straight.

But how to know if the engine i have in front of me is a Bodensee or not ?

Is there decal or Something tell me if is a Bodensee ?

Here in North America, can i see Bodensee or is just oversea ?

Than you

Bodensee refers to European emission motors.

The Bodensee is the most highly regulated body of water for engine emissions. Volvo stern drives even have special ECU's just for that lake due to the regulations. Pollution patrols can stop any boat and test the exhaust emissions on the spot. The Evinrude E-TEC was the first 2-stroke allowed on the lake after the emission laws went into effect.

Chances are you would not find a Bodensee motor in north america.
