I have a older Evinrude outboard motor. V-4 75 HP. Model 75553 5, Serial # E01218. I am trying to find out the age of this motor and any other information that would be needed for motor identification. My local dealer is worthless all he wants to do is sell new motors. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Evinrude V-4 75 HP Model #75553 SN# E01218

YEAR: 1965

Note: I would find another dealer that wanted to help me; then when I got ready for new outboard I would buy from him.

This only takes @ 15 seconds to look up & might get him some repeat business. Look elsewhere for parts & accessories maybe iboats.com MegaMall since you are here. Anything else do not hesitate to ask!

Fone_Man is correct-a-mundo.

Your Evinrude is a "Speedifour" long shaft model (five inches longer than standard shaft).

Other than that...I can't tell you anything more about it. I will, however, staunchly support's Fone_Man's suggestion for you to tell that dealer who wouldn't help you out you'll be doing business elsewhere.

Walt

Re: BoatMotor Identification

Nothing frosts me faster than dealers who won't look at anything over a year old, or just want to hose customers. I was in line at a local shop behind a customer who thought his Force starter (which he had in hand) was bad. The dealer (without even looking at it) wanted to order a new one for $220. The guy didn't have the money, and walked out. I followed him out and offered to check out the starter. Turns out the drive gear was stuck in the up position, and a shot of Fluid Film and a tap with a screwdriver handle, and he was back in action. I suggested he check out the forum here in the future before he heads to Grab-Yer-Ankles Marine.
