QC is a moderator on here out of SoCal. I know hes done it a few times with his 25' open bow I believe. pretty much depends on the weather, size of boat, and experience. I have done it several times on a 42' powerboat out of newport. Its an excellent get-a-way once you get acquainted with it.
Pedro (my old home town) is a good place as any to launch.
The winds in the channel whip up something fierce in the afternoon..
Maybe you can follow in the wake of the Catalina Express? lol...kinda?
Yeah, I've been over a lot. A few times on small boats, mine included, and a bunch on charters and larger friend's boats. Last trip was on a 32 footer in September. First thread link below. That trip you could've gone over in a 14 ft. tinny . . . It's definitely not about what you could do, it's all about what you should do . . . The Catalina Channel needs mega RESPECT.
