I have only been there once and the water was pretty murky. It's a great area to go boating though. We started in Saugerties (about 10 miles south of Catskill) and went south to the Harlem River then to the East River, and back up the Hudson to Saugerties. Was about a 230 mile round trip that we did in two days. We spent the night at the Tarrytown Yacht club on the return leg.
