This is one of the best places we have taken our family to boat. Its awesome. north has beautiful scenery and on the south end of the lake there is huge houses by nascar drivers. Pretty cool.. We rented a boat form www.lakenormanonlineboatrentals.com next time im taking my own. But the experience was great.

Re: Boating on Lake Norman

Living here near Lake Norman i drive an extra hour just to not go to that lake.
Too crowded on the weekends with all the boat traffic and people showing off.
The culture on that lake is who has the biggest or fastest boat.

All of the wakes coming from every direction makes for some really rough conditions. An 18-19 footer gets tossed like nothing and beats the heck out of you.

Glad you enjoyed it but it sure is not for me.

Lake Murray

I need to go check out Murray...I have heard several people talk about it.

I go about 50 some miles east to Lake Tillery..very laid back area.
No water cops either...;)

It is only 144 miles of shoreline, about 6000 acres i think but still a nice lake and great fishing.

I dream of living on Lake Norman.

Hopefully one day I can make that a reality.

LKN is a beautiful scenic lake with plenty to do and see. Small boats do have some trouble out on the main channel on weekends, but there are hundreds of coves to see/play in and the north end of the lake is very quiet. Lots of spots that families use with kids out on sandbars, rope swings islands etc.
