I saw this dead pontoon about 200 yds up our slough, two younger people paddling with an older guy than me in the boat. They weren't making much headway downstream to the ramp. Good current, but better south wind.

I saw several boats pass with their heads turned away. This pricey wake boat from the million dollar home Frentress lake also passed, then came back to help.

I call this good boating karma. I've pulled three dead boats back to safety. All offered cash. I declined. Karma. I hope I don't ever need the help, but if I do I hope boating Karma steps in.

To not help someone in any kind of trouble is pretty low. To not help someone in trouble on the water is actually criminal in some places I believe,,,,,,

A good dead will always come back to you. When I was younger and singler I drove a nice Benz 2 door coupe. I was on my way back from a business meeting and I see a guy on the side of the road, 2 kids and a woman in tow, he has a flat and since he has a cast on his leg is struggling, it's about 90F in the shade. I pull over, get out of the car, take off my best Sonny Crocket silk jacket and change his tire. He said he would offer me something but he didn't have anything to offer, they looked like they were struggling. I told him just to pass it on.

Not to offer help to a person in peril on the water in Canada is illegal. As long as it doesn't put your crew your vessel or yourself in peril.

I’ve been boating for 50 plus years and have never passed a stranded broke down boater without stopping and assisting and towing if needed. I’ve towed a number of boats over the years and would never accept $$$ for doing so. I have accepted a couple of ice cold beers on hot days but that’s it. Really angers me when I see a boater in need of assistance and other boaters don’t stop.

Several years ago I was daydreaming after checking the cabin out at the lake. Middle of winter. Skid off the road. A guy comes along and pulls me out. He wanted nothing.
fast forward about three years, I'm boating at the lake, see a guy and family paddling into the wind. I towed them in, and he says hey your the guy I pulled out of the snow a few years ago! Yup! Favor returned.
