Wife and I are going away this weekend. Forecast is for 55-60 degrees and overcast during the day. Wondering if its worth it to take the boat (16' bowrider) or if it will be too miserable to even enjoy cruising.

All depends on what temps you're used to... For us Florida folks that would be too cold for me since the temps will be under 60. My Minnie friends would be laughing at me from the water cuz I wimped out and they'll go out if it's in the 50s.

It might depend more upon the wind speed and chop. A rough ride under those conditions might make the fun meter read a little low. Providing the seas are good, however, then it's just what you make it! :)

Might be helpful to know where you are talking about going. Also, temps are subjective - some people like it warmer, others cooler. Would depend on other conditions like wind / water conditions (lake, ocean, rough, calm). To me, with "safe" conditions, cool and overcast on the boat beats cool and overcast in the recliner!

I live in the Albany, NY area and it is supposed to be the same type of weather here this weekend. As long as it is not raining(open runabout), I will be putting my old girl in the water. Go for it....

Worst case, you bring the boat and don't use it. Best case, you bring the boat, use it, and have some fun. Don't expect a great day, expect to use the boat. I live in New Hampshire, and would be ok in that temp.. My boat is not yet ready for the winter, so boat on. Bring sweatshirts and have fun.

Here in Utah you start out at 55-60 then move into the 100+ days of summer then it tapers back down to 60's again pretty quick so if you want to extend the season a bit you just go for it. I do agree that 55 with a bit of rain and wind/chop is a drag but 55 partly cloudy no wind no other boats on the lake well worth the effort to bring the boat. Its errie sometimes when you go from people everywhere to the only boat on the lake, but if you have trust in your boat its the best day of boating one can have imo.

My bow rider has a small curtain that snaps under the windshield opening and covers the walk-way into the bow. Pretty much blocks all the wind and makes for a decent ride.

We'll be on the water this weekend, 60-70's.

We're heading to Lake Delevan in Wisconsin. Looks like 10mph winds at least for one day, the other days have rain in the forecast. I figure i'll end up dragging the boat up there, even if we only get out for a day it'll be worth it.

I'm just getting my boat ready for fall as we speak(type) so I can't wait for the cold weather boating.

Not as many people around that's the best thing if you ask me. The kayakers don't last into october too far:D

No scaring the fish with those paddles and the bowfin and pike get pretty rowdy in colder temps for some reason.

Musky fishing in November in Canada...LOL sounds like fun to me!!!

Ya Dude go for it, being from up north myself 60* day are beautiful fall days, Wife and I go all the time in the fall and enjoy the fall color and the nice walks on the shore. Have the wife bring a light jacket and wear a pull over/zip-up sweatshirt and you'll be fine she can take off one or the other if she gets too warm 11am-1pm and have a great day!! We do it all the time, It's not uncommon for us to bring spare cloths with us and we can change if needed.

Make sure to wear larger sunglasses of some kind to keep wind out of your eyes. I wind burned my eyes sailboating and it was not pleasant. Other than that, your body will tell you when its too cold.

Around here if we don't boat in 50 degree weather we cut our season in half.

Just dress for it and you will be fine.
