Here's a tricky one. You see ahead of you at night two lights, a Red on the left and a Green on the right and no others. It is only one craft. What is it? ;)

A sailboat under sail, coming right directly towards you. If it were under power it would have to be running a steaming light...

Nope. Note the light configuration. A sailboat should also display a red over green on the mast.

Great guess 18rabbit, but wrong, you recognized the lights are backwards. It is a different craft though. This isn't a trick question. Also, you shouldn't be able to see your own bow lights.

Is it a pretty seaplane? Or ugly float plane? On the water?

Sloopy wins. It is a seaplane, however it is the orientation of the seaplane that makes this question tricky.

The admiration of your peers. The sea plane is inverted by the way.

If the plane were upright, SLOOPY, you would see a green light on the left and a red on the right. Not the other way around.

I don't know many sea planes that can fly upside down, or any pilots who would risk it.

A red light is positioned on the left wingtip of an aircraft, a green light is on the right, and a white light is on the tail. If if the airplane were to fly in your direction and fly over you and land you would still see the red and green lights.

In other words if it were daylight you would see the back of an airplane.
