I bought a used boat. The wiring is a mess. In the stern, the battery box has lots of ground wires twisted together and electrical-taped, along with several grounds stacked onto the battery's negative terminal. On the console is a fairly ok fuse/switch panel handling the positive
side. There are these long buss bars available at marine supply stores which can handle many common negative wires. My questions are A)are these a good remedy for this situation, and B)would this negative buss bar be best located in the battery box?

water,

Yes, the buss bars are the way to go. You can locate them anywhere you want.

Typically, when I wire a boat. I run a heavy guage wire (8-10 ga.) from the battery to a fuse block and bus bar in the console (dash). I then run the accesory wires from there.
