I have a 1988 19' Stingray with 5.0L Merc/Alpha Drive & 21 pitch prop. Last year I had the upper and lower units rebuilt and a complete tune up (wires, plugs, etc). (Boat ran fine before Marina recommended tune up and the rebuilt work). The Marina removed the Hydrofoil stabilizer. The problem since the rebuilts is that I no longer have a hole shot. The boat acts like it's not getting fuel and then eventually takes off. Run likes a champ at high end. Also replaced fuel filter and put in water separator. Any comments or suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Try putting the stabilzer back on!

Did you/they change the prop?

What diameter prop & outdrive gear ratio?

Also, if everything above is identical (before and after the rebuild - making sure they didn't change the gear set/ratio), you might now need a carb rebuild....

Give the marina a call, the mechanic may have forgotten something or made a mistake so give him a chance to double check what he did for you.
