I bought a 1989 monterey 1900 cuddy cabin with a 5.0 merc. The trailer dealer said the boat weighs 2200lbs. I emailed Monterey and got a response a month later. In the meantime to avoid paying storage fees at the marina I went with what the dealer said it weighed (2200). I bought a 3100lb. 5 starr trailer which the salesperson said was plenty for that boat. Nada Gudes says the boat weighs 2200lb. Buc values says 2780lbs. I took the boat to a local scale after all this mayhem and these are my figures. Total Package at the scale was 9500lbs. Not trying to be a worry wort just want to be safe than sorry!

Tow vehicle 5500lbs. + Trailer 600lbs. + Myslef 300lbs. + Boat 2200 = 8600

What in the H**L am I missing

Re-weigh it with just the trailer.

Was the NADA guide weight with a 5.0 engine or with the standard engine which is probably lighter?

Gasoline is 6lbs/gallon.

Go weigh the truck with you in it and all stuff that was in it when you had the boat hooked to it.

5500 sounds like a figure you got off the web or from a book versus actual weighed weight.

Then subtract the real truck weight from your actual whole rig weight of 9500lb.

The trailer has to have the capacity to haul the 9500 minus the truck weight.
