Hey all, new to your site. Hope someone here can help me. I have a 1968 Soonercraft 15' boat with a 60hp Evinrude motor . I have the opportunity to buy a 15' 1975 starcraft with a 75hp Evinrude motor. Quick question? can i swap out motor and harness to the Soonercraft. More info, the Soonercraft has no gauges uses the pully type steering. The starcraft some type of single cable and also has the gauges and an electric trim setup. The starcraft is water worthy now but does not have as much free deck space as my Soonercraft. The Soonercraft needs alittle work before it heads to the water. Thought i could use the Starcraft till the end of the season while working on the other. Then in the spring upgrade the stuff from the Starcraft to The Soonercraft. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: boat upgrade

You can swap anything (within reason), it just depends on how much work you're willing to do. At a bare minimum I'm thinking you'll need to swap the wiring harness, probably controls, wiring and switch for tilt/trim, you probably won't need to switch the steering system but that's dependent on how they connect to the motors.

Pictures would help if you have them. Also keep in mind that wiring harnesses might not be a simple swap if one boat is longer than the other.

It's not a huge project but it's also probably not a play and play swap between the two.
